It's incredibly frustrating when you discover a great 3D model to print, only to find out it's been ripped straight from a game. Someone took the original model, made it solid, and uploaded it without doing any actual work or improvement - they just used a flashy screenshot to hook you in for a few fleeting moments. Every single Deadpool model on Thingiverse is a game rip. The model was taken directly from a game and then uploaded to Tf3DM.com, probably the most over-uploaded model I've ever seen. Most people know that textures or bump maps that make 3D models look great in games don't translate well to the mesh itself. These are simply graphic shaders, tricks meant to make flat objects appear bumpy - unfortunately, when you print the model, all that detail gets lost. You're left with a plain surface. There is a way to convert bump maps and get them on the finished model, but as you also know, these models are low poly, so even then they look terrible when printed. The trick is to create a UV map for a very high-resolution model, which can be a real challenge - my 8x CPU grinds to a halt when I try to generate a UV map for a model with 2 billion polygons. That's why I wanted to take the game mesh and add stitching detail to it, which will really help when painting. It's a bit hefty at 45mb, but that's about as low as I could go while still keeping the stitching intact. The slices on the sides are done at 50 degrees, so they don't need any support. I've merged both meshes using Meshmixer and Netfabbed them - supports are set to a maximum of 40 degrees, so they should be fine. However, I've included the unsupported one if you'd like to generate your own. Here's an image of the original game character model that I used as the base for comparison. The original game mesh was from Tf3DM.com: http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/deadpool-42722.html
