DE9 and VGA Port Layout Spacer for Sega Game Gear

This level of modification IS difficult and you bear the responsibility. Sega Game Gear handhelds suffer from poor, often failing screens due to bad design and aging hardware. For those who are interested in owning a Game Gear, or still own a Game Gear, an LCD replacement is an option one may consider. Several LCD Replacements for Game Gear have VGA out "baked into" the replacement unit. The only thing needed for this additional feature is sourcing a VGA Connector, a small amount of soldering, and eventually cutting a hole in the plastic Game Gear case for a location to mount the VGA Connector. This thing comes with a VGA port only and a VGA port + DE9 connector port version. How to use: Complete all Soldering for LCD Screen, VGA Connector, and (optionally) DE9 Connectors on Game Gear Unit, and ensure it is working. Cut hole(s) in Game Gear Case: Place printed spacer in bottom part of Game Gear shell, near the bottom, between the battery compartments, It should fit snug between the reinforcement nut for the Master Gear Accessory, the screw post that hold the two pieces of the unit together, and the plastic wall. use a tool such as a Dremel to trace the port holes and screw reinforcement holes from the inside of the Game Gear unit. Carefully finish the edges from the interior and exterior in a smooth and professional manner. Take care to not ruin your case; Remove the port spacer and gently widen the VGA standoff holes so the Standoff will go through the Game Gear plastic case, but rest against the spacer wall when complete. Place VGA connector in spacer. If using the optional DE9 connectors: Remove 2-3 mm of one side of each DE9 connector; Essentially cutting from halfway through the hole for the DE9 connecter standoff. You'll take the right side off one DE9 connector, the left off of the other, and the short-side of each connector will correspond to the side each is mounted; Left is left, right is right. Sandwich the modified DE9 connectors between the screw reinforcement posts for the Game gear and the VGA connector. The unmodified screw holes on each DE9 connector will overlap on VGA connector screw holes. Finish: Install Standoff screw on exterior of Game Gear, and nut on interior, holding VGA, spacer, and (optional) DE9 connectors on half of case. Reassemble Game Gear. Enjoy. Printing: High Quality with Supports. 10% infill
