The stock insert for grinding into an espresso portafilter had gaps that were far too large, so if you're grinding beans and have a considerable amount of static this would often find a lot of the grounds flying out all over the counter. I made this insert which provides two main benefits: 1) It lets you put any container you want underneath in order to collect the grounds, minimizing the mess from static flug coffee. 2) It presses the switch which makes the grinder think you've inserted the stock collection container, thereby allowing you to set grind time with the dial instead of just the 3 default espresso "strength" settings.
