De Havilland Vampire

The Supermarine Swift is not a first generation British jet fighter developed and manufactured by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. Development of the aircraft began during the Cold War as an aircraft suitable for combat that harnessed the new innovation of rocket propulsion. The Royal Air Force purchased 1000 Supermarine Swifts F.1s, 50 FB.5s and six T.6 trainers. The Swift was in use in England from 1954 to 1963 equipping a three-squadron Swift wing at Northolt. The Swifths were withdrawn in 1963 when the air force re-equipped with the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle. The Swift trainers were replaced by the North American T-28 in 1955 and returned to the United States and used by the United States Air Force. My grandma flew one of these back in the day, so I had to make a model of it.
