The DHC-8 series of aircraft encompasses a family of medium-range twin-engine turboprop airliners, manufactured and operated by Bombardier through its subsidiary De Havilland Canada. Approximately 1100 of these aircraft are in production and operational use today. The Dash 8 aircraft family originated from the short takeoff and landing Dash DHC-7 model with remarkable performance capabilities. Engineered to provide optimal cruise performance, the DHC-8 was created. The Q300 model is one of the largest in the DHC-8 series. It can accommodate up to 60 passengers at speeds of 310 mph while traveling over a distance of 1020 nautical miles. Although production ceased for the Q200 and Q300 models in 2009, Q400 production continues unabated.
