DC42 IR Probe mount for Updated E3D v6 (IR Sensor,Mini Differential IR Height Sensor)
thingiverse
This is a custom IR probe mount designed by David Crocker, also known as DC42, specifically for use with the updated E3D v6 featuring a smaller heater block and silicone socks. I was searching online for this design when I encountered several individuals experiencing difficulties fitting existing designs to the revised block. The design process involved importing the original fan shroud model from E3D into Fusion360 and using it as a template, thus preserving airflow. The goal was to maintain the same shape while ensuring accurate thermal readings. To achieve precise measurements, the board is positioned slightly off-center, aligning the IR reading point perfectly with the nozzle. This setup minimizes the Y offset to 16mm and eliminates any X offset, resulting in more accurate temperature readings. A small cutout has been incorporated into the design to accommodate the Molex connector without obstruction. The screw holes are precisely engineered for a perfect fit with the supplied screws (IR Probe Screws and E3D v6 Fan Shroud Screws), eliminating the need for any drilling or modification. When assembling this mount, please ensure that your fan shroud is securely attached in the correct orientation, with the lip pointing upwards as depicted in the final image.
