DC15 Cord Toggle
thingiverse
After years of faithful service, my trusty Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, affectionately known as "The Animal", finally gave up the ghost, its plastic cord toggle/holder snapping under the strain. Frustrated by the lack of replacement parts available, I took matters into my own hands and scoured online marketplaces for a solution. That's when I stumbled upon Thingiverse, where I discovered a community-driven design that offered hope. The original part, created by rwt0277, was close but not quite perfect - it didn't fit my vacuum with precision and had a slightly different appearance. However, it did look stronger than the original. Recognizing an opportunity to improve on perfection, I decided to "remix" the design, tweaking it to meet my specific needs. Using Autodesk Fusion 360, I modeled the new part from scratch, taking care to ensure that it would be compatible with my vacuum's wand. The result was a near-perfect fit, although it did require some gentle sanding to snugly secure it in place. As for durability, I'm not holding out too much hope - after all, the original part snapped off after years of faithful service. Still, I decided to err on the side of caution and print two replacement parts, just in case the inevitable happens again.
