This coaster proudly bears the iconic DC Comics logo, a symbol of the world's most beloved superheroes. Place it beneath your favorite beverage or utilize its sturdy surface to anchor the last remnants of your filament as you finish printing your latest masterpiece. In my youth, I developed an affinity for comic books, frequently devouring titles from both DC and Marvel universes. If this coaster piques your interest, stay tuned for a future post featuring a Marvel-themed design. Measuring 100 by 100 by 5 millimeters in size, this coaster fits neatly within the standard coaster holder available on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/...). Found on Wikipedia, DC Comics is an American comic book publisher with a rich history dating back to the early days of the industry. As a subsidiary of Warner Bros., DC Entertainment produces an impressive array of characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and many more. Their stories unfold within the vast DC Universe, populated by iconic heroes like the Justice League, Teen Titans, and Superman's rogues gallery, featuring villains such as The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Darkseid. Beyond their core universe, DC Comics has also published critically acclaimed titles like Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Vertigo. The company's name originated from its popular Detective Comics series, which introduced Batman to the world and eventually became an integral part of the DC brand. Over the years, DC Comics has called various Manhattan locations home, including 480 Lexington Avenue, 909 Third Avenue, and 1325 Avenue of the Americas. However, in October 2013, it was announced that DC Entertainment would relocate its headquarters from New York to Burbank, California, a move set to take place in April 2015. Today, Random House distributes DC Comics' books to bookstores, while Diamond Comic Distributors supplies comics shops with their latest releases. In the world of comic books, DC and Marvel have long been fierce competitors, sharing approximately 70% of the American market in 2017. I printed this coaster using Ultimaker white PLA at a 0.15mm layerheight and 10% infill (Gyroide pattern) with a 0.4mm nozzle and heated bed. Design Process To create this coaster, I selected a logo from my browser and converted it into an SVG format in Inkscape. From there, I opened the file in Blender and transformed it into a three-dimensional object. Using Meshmixer, I repaired the model, erased unnecessary elements, and added a coaster before merging the two objects together. After scaling the image, I saved the file as an STL and sliced it for printing. Although Meshmixer had some issues with the model, I decided to export it into Netfabb Online Service, which proved to be a game-changer in fixing the STL file. With its extensive range of repair procedures, I was able to slice the model without any problems. Best regards, Raimon Elctrncs
