In 1966, when it came time for the USAF Aeromedical CX-X proposal, DC-9 Aerodynamics at Douglas Long Beach was actively recording and calculating performance data from flight tests. They provided me with a Flight manual for a -10 model and later for a -20 and -30 models. To assist in constructing this model, I received help from Sales Engineering based on their cross plot data used with airline customers. The only more recent data I utilized to construct this model from memory was a floor plan, which helped me locate windows. The flight manuals I was given at that time were commercial and did not meet any applicable Mil-Spec standards. This was possible because the C-5A?CX-HLS scandal had led to procurements being done to earlier specifications after the Systems Engineering Specifications AFM-375-5 came into effect, which replaced the older AFR-310-1 requirements.
