DBZ Scouter with working screen
thingiverse
Here is my version of BDZ scouter, and it's actually working device - not exactly perfect copy, but functional nonetheless. Inspired by Google Virtual Glasses, I created a virtual distance sensor. I used an Arduino Nano, OLED screen, and Laser Distance Sensor (exact model in the schematic). The Laser Sensor takes readings, which are not yet calibrated, and displays numbers on the OLED screen. A Perspex mirror reflects the image at 45 degrees to the lens, used from cheap Google Cardboard Virtual Glasses, then it's projected onto a clear Perspex screen. So you will still see everything, but in the clear Perspex, you'll also see the distance to the object you're looking at. On the OLED screen, I typed 'Power' instead of distance because that's what this device is supposed to measure in DBZ :). To place it on my head, I used a 15mm wide plastic headband, which seems to work fine. It's still a work in progress, but I'm so happy that it works that I decided to share the prototype now.
