DB9 male socket (just add 0.1" header)
thingiverse
This is a custom DB9 male connector. Simply glue inside it two strips of 0.1" header, one with 5 pins and one with 4 pins. I used ABS juice for the glue. The pins will be slightly off from the official DB9 spacing of 0.108", but this should work well enough. In practice, you can easily change the number of pins and even tailor this to create a DB15, but the discrepancy in pin spacing will then become more noticeable. I discovered that the pins came loose during soldering. A large amount of JB Weld over the connections is helping to keep them securely fastened now.
