DB's French Cleat Filament Spool Holder
thingiverse
I should have uploaded this design much sooner. I've been asked to share it multiple times, and I'm finally getting around to it. Assembling the design requires a few screws; I used 1/2" #4 screws in my example, but you can also use 15mm M3 screws or any other type of screw that suits your needs. To mount the cleat to the wall, I've used narrow-headed Phillips wide-thread screws. Don't forget to widen the pass-through hole to prevent cracking. This design is specifically designed for quick, secure, and painless filament management. I use these designs for more than just filament spools; they're versatile and can accommodate a wide range of spool diameters, arbors, and widths. After being informed that some users were experiencing warping issues when printing the wall mount, I decided to modify it by segmenting the wall mount into interlocking parts. For the wall cleat, I used 1 13/16" tall by 1 3/16" thick wood slats with a dovetail groove cut centered along the bottom length. The rectangular hole in the wall mount allows for the insertion of a stiffening stick of wood or aluminum channel, 5/16" by 5/8". I hope this design is helpful to you. Please let me know what you think.
