DB's Adjustable Locking Arm Additions
thingiverse
The original design for the locking components of the adjustable lamp is truly exceptional, but I needed additional parts to assemble it into the lamp I envisioned building. The snap-together pieces lacked strength and kept snapping apart while trying to put things together. To address this issue, I replaced them with M5 screws that fit snugly and only require hand-tightening since the locking mechanisms merely need to be held together securely without being overly tightened for stability. Adjusting it to the desired direction remains relatively easy. I added a threaded socket for the bulb size I was using, as well as a mounting component for attaching the bulb itself, making it possible to screw in and out if replacement is needed later on. Additionally, I created a base that can house the necessary electronics and be secured through the same holes as the original base attachment part. Since I didn't want to attach it permanently to my desk or wall, I sent M3 screws through the parts and a piece of wood for weighting it down. The base features a basic electronics switch (small) and has a hole in the back for a female AC adapter plug that can be easily wired up to power the 12V bulb.
