The Recipe for Christmas Shortbread There's nothing like using small shortbread cookie cutters to make your printed 3D creations even more special. This recipe is a favorite of Santa and his little elves, and it's easy to see why - it's a delicious treat that's perfect for the holiday season. Preparation Time: 15 Minutes Cooking Time: 8 Minutes Ingredients (serves 6): - 250g of flour - 100g of softened butter - 125g of sugar - 50g of ground almonds - 1 egg - 1 teaspoon of yeast - For spices, choose from: - Cinnamon - Ginger - Nutmeg - Clove - Lemon zest (orange or tangerine) - 1 egg yolk (mixed with a little water) Preparing the Recipe: Preheat your oven to 200°C (thermostat 6-7). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, sugar, and ground almonds. Add in the butter and eggs, then work the mixture with a fork until it's well combined. Knead the dough into a ball with your hands, then season with your choice of spices - cinnamon and orange are a classic combination! Divide the dough into three equal pieces, and use different seasonings for each one. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, then cut out shapes using cookie cutters (try fir trees, moons, or stars). Arrange the shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them to allow for even cooking. Brush some egg yolk mixed with cinnamon over the biscuits to give them a golden brown color. Bake in the oven for 7-10 minutes, or until they're cooked through.
