Day 1: The candy

The Legend: "Hector and Nestor" According to ancient lore, Hector and Nestor, fraternal twins, are credited with inventing candy canes. However, their relationship was far from harmonious. Even as young adults, they constantly clashed in petty squabbles. This bickering explains why Hector focused on crafting white candy canes, while his brother, Nestor, concentrated on making red ones. Each year, they found themselves competing to see who could sell the most candy canes at the village Christmas market. Their mother grew weary of their incessant quarreling over the years. One night, she entered Hector's workshop and stole his preparation for white candy canes. Then, she slipped into Nestor's space and snatched his red candy cane mixture. With her loot in hand, she hastened home to concoct a revolutionary new treat. She mixed liquid sugar multiple times to create two distinct pastes, which she stretched until they shone. Next, she placed the two tubes side by side and warmed them in a sugar lamp. As the mixture merged, she began twisting the tubes together, creating a novel red and white striped barley sugar. The following day, their mother unveiled her creation at the Christmas market, where it quickly gained massive popularity. Customers flocked to her stand, eager to sample the distinctive new candy canes. Meanwhile, Hector and Nestor remained puzzled as to why no customers were visiting their own stalls. Curiosity got the better of them, so they decided to investigate. That's when they discovered their mother selling these innovative two-colored treats at a nearby stall. Initially taken aback, the twins soon realized that combining their efforts had yielded an unexpected but valuable result. Discover our newest Dagoma NEVA or find our Dagoma Discoeasy200.
