Davinci Pro hot end LEDs
thingiverse
I've got a Davinci Pro that's equipped with LEDs inside to illuminate the chamber. The chamber is well-lit, except for a small area right at the nozzle, which remains in shadow. To address this issue, I created a clip-on LED holder that attaches to the front two linear bearing housings and can be rotated slightly. The LED strips run on 12vdc power, and I discovered that there's already a 12vdc supply available in my printer. I also have a tiny video camera installed inside the printer, which allows me to monitor print progress remotely and runs on 12vdc. To power my LEDs, I simply used a 12vdc splitter connected to the camera's power supply. I designed two versions of this LED mount: one for a 3-LED strip that measures 50mm x 8mm, and another with holes for two 5mm LEDs. Upon reviewing the design, I confirmed that it's indeed compatible with my Davinci Pro printer, which uses S3D software, an E3D V6 hotend, and a PrintinZ build plate. A key discovery I made during testing is that if the little ears on the LED mount break off when clipped onto the bearing housings, re-printing the part with increased infill density can resolve the issue. Starting from 20% infill might be too low; try increasing it to 50%. To address this problem, I strengthened the ear area and recommend using an infill of at least 50%. I produced three versions of the LED mount: one for a standard LED strip, another for two LEDs, and a third for a 5050 3-LED module. However, users should be cautious when working with the 5050 module bracket, as it hangs lower than the other two designs and may interfere with z-axis calibration or zeroing.
