Davinci 80mm fan exhaust
prusaprinters

Mounts into the hole on the side of the davinci printer, and mates to a 80mm fan.

Part2 mates the other side of the 80mm fan to the flex duct.

Sorry it's rotated funny. This was the first part I designed!

Uses a 4" duct like this: http://smile.amazon.com/FO450-5-ply-Supurr-Flex-Aluminum-Ducting/dp/B00009W3H2

I used hose clamps like these: http://smile.amazon.com/Spectre-9704-Hose-Clamps-Pair/dp/B004AJ352W

Instructions

I printed mine at 0.2 depth and 20% infill.

I have the fan running off an external 12v power supply, and actually use an arduino/relay to control the fan and RGB LED strip that's inside the case (see below). I have a switch mounted inside to tell when the Y axis is at home, and I wait until the extruder has left home before turning on the fan. This was because I found running the fan during the heating phase would sometimes cause the ERROR 0010 which is that the bed didn't heat as fast as it should, since I'm pulling colder air over the top of it. With the arduino waiting to turn it on until the extruder has moved fixed that problem.

I used some foam to seal the top opening, while remaining easy to open: http://imgur.com/a/xt6pe

The big piece is cut from a tube of foam pipe insulation with some gorilla tape, and then I used two small strips of weather seal foam to seal the smaller cracks on the sides. With this, and the fan running I smell ZERO abs outside the printer, which is essential as I have mine in my room!

Taking this one step further, I'm using an arduino to regulate the fan, control an RGB led strip, and I just added a servo to help dislodge a piece of cardboard I put over the vent to prevent backdrafts. To switch the fan I'm using a small 5v relay, 3 transistors to power each color of the RGB leds, and finally a micro servo with an attached paper clip to knock away the cardboard valve. I will explain this in more detail if there is interest.

Arduino code here: http://pastie.org/9749914
Category: 3D Printer Accessories
