Finally a simple and reliable right Y axis carriage solution for the Da Vinci 1 comes into play. This allows users to take advantage of 15mm OD x 8mm ID linear ball bearings, resulting in improved accuracy. The two-piece design can relieve any misalignment stresses between the X and Y axis components when bolted together in their natural state. Attach the bottom half to the X axis rods and the top half to the Y axis rod, then bolt the two carriage halves together. Securely assemble the Y axis carriage halves before attaching the X and Y axis belts. Linear bearing bores measure 15.2mm to account for model shrinkage, while rod holes are 8.5mm to allow for model shrinkage. Both linear bearing bores and rod holes should be reamed to size for optimal model accuracy.
