Daves Filament Rack

Daves Filament Rack

Like many other people, I initially thought I could resist the urge to buy multiple spools of filament and stay focused on what really mattered when I started 3D printing. Unfortunately, we all know how that goes. You end up with far too much filament and have no practical way to store it. If you live in an area with high humidity, you're forced to store it in a sealed space with precise humidity control. For the rest of us, we simply want a solution to prevent filament rolls from toppling over and a storage method that doesn't distort the spool while allowing us to see exactly what we have. I've searched online marketplaces and other platforms but couldn't find something that met my requirements. So I created my own solution. Below are plenty of photos so it should be clear what to do, but if you have any questions or concerns, please leave a comment and I'll do my best to address the issue. If you decide to use this design, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could share a photo and leave a comment. Other than that, enjoy! Design Requirements for the Filament Rack: 1. Must be able to support all types of filament spools. 2. Must print without requiring any support structures. 3. Must fit on an Ender 3. 4. Must accommodate dowels of varying sizes. 5. Must use minimal filament. 6. Must be strong enough to hold multiple rolls of filament without distorting or breaking. 7. Must be adaptable and versatile.
