Datsun 260z 280z Center Vent Fins
thingiverse
If you have a Datsun 260z/280z, chances are the center vents in your car have fins that are broken. I decided to design news ones to replace all of the fins using the original parts. Disassembly of the vents are simple enough. Once you have the panel removed, there are four screws that hold the vent assembly in place. Once you remove those, you can slide out the vents. Keep all the parts in separate bags because you'll need them later. Everything can be popped out, The upper and lower vents are held by tabs on the side. One side on each are melted into place, but with enough force, they also pop out. Just be careful because, like I said, you'll need all the original parts except for the fins. I didn't want to bother designing those other pieces because they were all in good shape. Once disassembled, you can replace the fins with the printed ones. The rods that hold the fins in place need to be accurate, so I printed these in fine detail with 0.10 layers and 30 mm/s print speed. I used PETG because I don't want them melting on a hot day. You could use stronger material like PC, but I don't plan on keeping my car out in the sun, so I thought PETG is good enough. I wouldn't trust PLA, but it's up to you. Now just reverse the assembly order and you should have a working set of center vents in your Datsun. Enjoy!
