The Volkswagen Up!'s dashboard socket can also hold an optional "Maps & More" Sat Nav unit, but it inspired me to create a simple phone mount. To make the stand, bend it until it clicks into place and adjust the angle as needed for your HTC One (in a case). The mount has two parts: the flexible stand and the phone clip. Secure them together with a screw or glue, depending on preference. With access to a 3D software program, you can modify the clip to fit other phone models; please share any custom designs you create! I used Google SketchUp to design both components, requiring about four to five adjustments for optimal size, flexibility, and grip within the dashboard socket. The phone clip was easier to perfect due to more room for error, with final tweaks made in Cinema4D using Boolean operations.
