Dashboard for Sim Racing

Case A Case For Sim Racing Dashboard Design The design incorporates spaces for a speedometer, tachometer, and gear indicators. A USB B-type connector on the back connects to various electronic components that can perform tasks efficiently. The design would benefit from consolidation onto one board, which could make the case thinner if desired. Electronics Scrapped electronics parts from old computers were used along with additional boards for construction. A PIC microcontroller manages the device's operations. Configured settings and data are received through a PC connection via serial communication over USB. Firmware processes incoming data, translating it into formats readable on 7-segment displays and LEDs. The tachometer is shown in a pre-configured RPM ratio using green, yellow, and red LEDs. Game Support Several plugins and tools were written for games to obtain speed, gear, RPM, and maximum RPM information. This data is transmitted directly through the device's virtual serial interface to be displayed on the sim racing dashboard. Currently Supported Games: rFactor 2 DiRT Rally RaceRoom Racing Experience Euro Truck Simulator 2, along with other SCS trucking games, are likely supported as well. Assetto Corsa F1 2015, and potentially later versions Project Cars Project Cars 2 Original FreeCAD files allow for easy modifications to the design. Upon request, schematics, firmware, and PC software can be shared.
