Some parts found in vehicle cabins and everyday electrical appliances tend to deteriorate easily when trying to remove them. If they don't break first, between shocks and mechanical vibrations, after many years of loyal service... Holding the dashboard trim in place...  Household tinkering can quickly become a nightmare when we need to get a piece with very specific shapes to fill a well-defined role on a surface that we wouldn't want to modify. In our case, to hold the dashboard trim correctly, there's no thirty-six solutions... either we have the manufacturer's piece or we need to find one that looks like those from the first choice! Designing a new clip For this fixing clip, there's nothing really complicated when it comes to modeling under FreeCAD. We'll start by sketching the half-head that will undergo a revolution function later. We'll then come and cut the head with a rectangular sketch, and finally place the cross-shaped sketch of the intermediate part between the lamellas and the head. For the body, i.e., the lamellas, I've slightly deviated from the original writing of our craftsman (version 0.16) to make something parametric (modifiable number of lamella without changing the basic design). In general, it's the same thing but with a little plus in terms of personalization if needed. Finally, we'll combine the head and body of the piece before exporting it to STL format! ![In real conditions We can say that this clip completely fulfills its function. It holds the dashboard trim of the BMW without any problem. Plus, even if it's not really the same as the original (different production method), we can say it blends in perfectly with the surroundings!
