Daruma Otoshi

Daruma Otoshi, or darumaotoshi for short, is a traditional Japanese game of skill that challenges players to stack round blocks on top of each other in a single column. At the very top, a meditating daruma sits poised and ready. The name "Otoshi" literally translates to "falling," setting the tone for this thrilling game. To play, kind of like Jenga, players take turns hitting the bottom piece with a mallet, trying not to knock over the blocks stacked above it. Each successful hit brings the player closer to victory. Growing up, I have fond memories of playing Daruma Otoshi during special occasions and whenever our Gameboy's were temporarily out of commission. The excitement was palpable as we carefully selected which block to strike next. The model measures approximately 7.75 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter when the mallet holds the five blocks securely in place. With a little scaling up, this design can easily be adapted for larger prints. To ensure added strength, don't forget to print the hammer with a higher fill rate.
