This is a spring retainer designed for use when converting a Nerf Recon to utilize internal components of the Nerf Retaliator. Due to the Recon's larger diameter hole in the plunger spring stop, the Retaliator's spring will not rest properly and passes through instead. This issue is resolved. The retainer can also be used with XPT (Expanded Plunger Tube) Retaliators to provide guidance for the plunger rod, which is necessary due to the larger diameter plunger head combined with a smaller spring diameter. Without proper guidance, misalignment of the plunger rod during firing can occur, resulting in decreased performance. The retainer accommodates up to a 12KG Turf spring (27mm compressed length), although most springs are typically around 21-22mm in length. The retainer comes with supplied shims in 1, 2, and 3mm sizes to fill out compression on shorter compressed springs. Printing the 3 shims provides combinations ranging from 1-6mm, while printing two 2mm shims with the rest yields a combination ranging from 1-8mm. Update: The file has been updated to an 'Open Ended' version for compatibility with stock Retaliator tube and plunger tolerances.
