Darth Vader's lightsaber was the personal lightsaber of Darth Vader, a Sith Lord who served as Darth Sidious' last apprentice and supreme military commander of the Galactic Empire. He built this powerful tool after losing his previous saber during a fierce battle on Cabarria. Due to modifications made by Vader over time, the exterior of his lightsaber changed slightly in appearance while maintaining its original design based on his first Jedi lightsaber. As a Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader would draw his lightsaber when facing Jedi, as well as against other opponents, even though he sometimes preferred using the Force to dispatch weaker foes.
