Darth Vader bust with optional helmet accessory!

Darth Vader bust with optional helmet accessory!

This is a quick and dirty model of Darth from the shoulders up, probably way too over designed with hundreds of unused vertices that I'm lazy about fixing. My Thing-O-Matic isn't properly calibrated and uses old ABS stock, resulting in average prints. I'm eager to reprint this once I've upgraded my machine and can get it sorted out. I attempted to print a Darth Vader bust similar to the Beethoven one but ended up experimenting with printing the model with minimal support structure. I tried to print him without separating the helmet and had limited success, as seen in the totally red Darth images. The helmet's bottom rim didn't print well for several layers, making it look wobbly. Regardless of what I do, my ToM can't print any support structure, so my fabrications always appear worse for wear on overhangs in images. The VaderBody.stl really needs support under the chin, but is otherwise easy to work with. VaderHelmet has built-in support in its design, allowing it to be printed without needing external support and hacked out of the inner helmet. I like to cut away the chin of the VaderBody.stl after printing with no support, as it's a little Cthulhu-like, and use a lighter about an inch from the model to re-set the ABS and remove the white from my trimmings. It's not perfect but works. I've already said it, but this isn't perfect and I welcome others to alter and fix things if they feel the need or desire. Perhaps Darth will be lucky enough to get some more accessories in time too.
