Anakin Skywalker, or Darth Vader (English: Darth Vader), is a fictional character, successively a Jedi knight and a Sith lord, and the central character of the first two trilogies of the Star Wars film saga conceived by George Lucas. In the original trilogy consisting of A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), he is introduced as Darth Vader, a menacing cyborg dressed and masked in black, serving Emperor Palpatine. He then plays the main villain of the story. Darth Vader also appears in the spin-off film Rogue One (2016), set just before Episode IV.
