Darth Maul's Lightsaber - Star Wars

Happy to present my Darth Maul lightsaber kit. The goal was to break it up to avoid as many supported overhangs as possible for a cleaner look, and also wanted the two halves detachable. These are all the parts to complete 1 half of the double-bladed lightsaber. You need to print all the parts twice for the full version (except for the parts called ‘joiner’ and 'middle ring'--those only need to be printed once.)There is an optional ‘internals’ part that fits inside the joint space that kind of resembles a kyber crystal setup. Color swapping was used to get the silver layer. If you don't want to print all the split parts there is a ‘whole’ version of each chamber--just need to use supports. Refer to the diagram for proper part placement. With so many parts it can be easy to mistakenly glue the wrong parts together. Double check your parts are in the right place and the right side up before gluing. For an eye-catching metal effect using silk PLA, set your top solid infill pattern to ‘Archemedian chords’ on the emitter tips. Same pattern can be used on the bottom infill of the red and silver buttons to make those look great. I printed everything at 0.15mm layer height. Was very happy with the finished product. Hope you all enjoy. The PLA filaments used were Ziro silk silver, Overture black, Prusament galaxy black, and CC3D silk red. IEMAI transparent red PETG was used for the crystal. Update July 14, 2022 - Fixed the joiner part so both saber halves align better with all the red buttons in a row. Note: Due to how PLA can wear down after repeated friction, the joiner threading can become looser which then requires turning it more to keep tight. That can misalign the two halves. A simple fix is to wrap tape around the joiner threads which then adds tightness and lets you align them better. ***** If you like my designs, please consider supporting me *****PayPal: https://paypal.me/jonesmikeaKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/unimatrixredBuy Me A Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/jonesmikea
