Dart Gun

Dart Gun

I got bored and wanted to make a crossbow that could accurately fire darts at my dart board. Since I couldn't find anything to my liking on community sites, I came up with this. At regulation distance, there is virtually no drop in the path of the dart and they stick very well. There isn't much for sights, but it is very easy to adjust to once you have used it. Just be prepared to go through a lot of rubber bands (totally worth it). YOU MUST HAVE NARROW FLIGHTS. Wide flights will catch and throw off your accuracy. You will need super glue to hold the parts together and rubber bands to act like a slingshot. I use a single large rubber band as my bow string. I also recommend a medium size rubber band to wrap tightly around the pins on the front of the arms. This is to stop the dart slider from coming out and to make the launcher significantly quieter. There is no harm done without it and it stays on the rubber band, however, it is very loud when it slams back. I learned the hard way to not dry fire this launcher without the front rubber band, as the rubber band slot will snap off. Even with narrow flights, this front band does get nicked, but the dart straightens out before it hits the board. I made an additional projectile for this launcher. You can remove the dart slider and it will clip directly onto the trigger and then you can stretch your rubber band behind it. All you have to do is remove the front band. At 10 feet, it feels like getting hit with a paintball. I need to make more modifications to it (this project is only a few days old) but if you ask for it, I can provide the .stl file or the .step file if you would like to use mine as a base to make your own.
