Dark Pre-Choctaw Little Bear Creek-Type Projectile Point Arrowhead, 2,500 BC
thingiverse
The amazing thing about 3D printing technology is that it lets you make replicas of rare, unusual, and educational items you might never encounter otherwise. Like this one. This is an early Archaic projectile point lithic called the Little Bear Creek point, which dates from 4,500 to 3,000 years ago (2,500 BC to 1,000 BC). This particular arrowhead belongs to the ancestral proto-indians of the Choctaw tribe and was discovered near the Tennessee River in Western Tennessee. The item is currently housed in the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. It was scanned using a NextEngine scanner. If you want to use this scan for anything other than personal reasons, please contact Darryl Ricketts (drricket@iusb.edu) for proper attribution or if you have any questions. Remember that it is extremely illegal to excavate or remove Native American archaeological resources from State, local, or private lands throughout the United States. Please do not take this kind of action! Help protect these valuable archaeological resources. If you find any remains or items like this one, or if you need information on Federal laws, contact a local professional archaeologist. If you print this item, please post a photo and check out my other scans of skulls and bones at http://www.thingiverse.com/dricketts/designs.
