Dante Station
thingiverse
The Dante Station model was inspired by plans from "Modeling the ClinchField Railroad in N Scale" (Kalmbach Books, 1979, p. 46). It took several attempts to achieve the right level of detail for an N scale model while still being printable on a MakerBot. The scale is 1:160. A newer version called Dante Station - Revisited (thingiverse.com/thing:239980) has more details and easier printing. The design began with Google Sketchup, ideal for architectural modeling. However, it seemed too perfect for an old building, so ZBrush was used to add aging effects. MakerWare 2.4 prepared the file for Replicator2 printing with settings of 10% infill, 0.200 layer height, 1 shell, 40 feedrate, 55 travel feed, and 220 temperature. A raft with full support was used in printing which took less than 4 hours at a height of 44 mm. To modify these settings or change the support angle for overhangs, create a new profile using MakerBot PLA Standard and edit the following lines: "doSupport": true, "supportAngle": 45.0, "layerHeight": 0.20, "rapidMoveFeedRateXY": 55, "extruderTemp0": 220, "extruderTemp1": 220, [several other places], "numberOfShells": 1, "feedrate": 40 [also several other places]. This provides better accuracy and quality.
With this file you will be able to print Dante Station with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Dante Station.
