DescriptionFor PrintCity, I created a packaging design for a virtual brand to showcase and educate the industry about the possibilities of inline production of high-decorated value-added folding boxes using a Gallus ICS 670 modular printing system. To demonstrate this capability, I designed and printed a perfect integrated cosmetic pot that fits perfectly within the diamond-shaped folding box, suitable for industrial processing. This design served two purposes: finding the ideal flacon shape to complement the box and creating marketing images for the project. All components of the cosmetic pot, including the precision-crafted screw locks, were created individually using CAD software without relying on any pre-existing part libraries. The cosmetic pot consists of three distinct materials per sample: PLA Black for the stand, PET for the body, and PLA Yellow and Pink for the cap. Each part was printed using an Ultimaker 2 with specific settings to achieve desired results. The images showcased were printed with a 1.6 mm shell thickness (25% infill) for the stand and 100 mm shell thickness for the body and cap. This configuration allowed Cura to minimize infill in the translucent PET, resulting in an exceptional finish on the upper layer. The parts were printed at resolutions of 0.1 mm for the stand, 0.12 mm for the PET Body, and 0.06 mm for the cap. The stand was printed without support, while the cap and body were printed with support from the print table only, maintaining a 2 mm distance to prevent damage to the screw threads. To preserve the design's aesthetic, I chose not to apply any additional finishing techniques, opting for a rough surface that complements the diamond shape of the object.
