DANIEL E ISAÍAS
sketchfab
Maestro Mateo's Workshop\n Circa 1200\n Granite\n Two figures, identified as the prophets Daniel and Isaiah, from Master Mateo's stone choir screen, are now located in the middle level of the first section on the left side of the façade of the Holy Door. \nOriginally, they occupied space alongside Ezekiel and Jeremiah in the reserved area for the "major prophets" in the first section of the north-facing façade of Master Mateo's choir. \nThe sequence begins with Isaiah's delicate image, topped with a Phrygian cap like his namesake on the Portico of Glory; he has carefully trimmed beard, crossed legs, and tilted face, holding his right hand to his chest while grasping a vertical tablet with his left, which falls to the floor. \nFourth in line, following Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel in canonical order, is the image of Daniel, equally topped with a Phrygian cap, reserved for the major prophets in the choir and with youthful face.
