Description by Flickr user plnghl: Ganesha is one of the most popular Hindu gods and Parvati's son. He is the lord of beginnings, remover of obstacles, and placer. Typically, Ganesha carries his own tusk in one hand and a bowl of sweets; here he also holds a rosary and an axe. In mythology, Ganesha received his elephant head after Shiva cut off his human head in anger. Later, Ganesha vowed to replace it with the first creature's head he encountered, which was an elephant.
