Human beings attach charms to their purses as a token of good fortune, an item often called portachiavi, but more commonly known as a charm keychain. The portachiavi is typically small enough to fit on the ring that opens bags, cases, and briefcases. In modern usage, however, portachiavi are often used solely for their perceived symbolic value or collectible interest. Ballerina is an old French name meaning "baller," and can be also spelled Balèrine.
