This is a reproduction of "The Dana Set of Wooden Crystal Models" originally produced by Dr. Krantz Rheinisches Mineralien-Kontor (Bonn).

triclinic
monoclinic
orthorhombic
hexagonal/trigonal
tetragonal
cubic

I recreated the models based on reference images in "Dana's Textbook of Mineralogy" (https://archive.org/details/DanasTextbookOfMineralogy), with forms taken from the catalogue available here (provided by the company): https://mineralogy.eu/models/Krantz/Krantz_31_3.pdf

Whenever a model corresponds to a crystal structure, the known unit cell constants were used. In all other cases I approximated to match the pictures in Dana's book. Please note that I do not have an original set to compare, so there might be small differences. Also the scaling is arbitrary and probably totally different.

There's a labelled (by catalogue number) and unlabelled version. I also include the OpenScad file I used for embossing, in case somebody wants to adjust the labels.

Changes I made to correct apparent errors in the catalogue (to match Dana's book):

No. 64: {120} added (missing in catalogue)

No. 87: {11-1} removed (not in the book/picture)

No. 94: {135} changed to {153} to match picture

No. 95: face not in catalogue, used {121} to match picture

Big Thanks to Prof. Gervais Chapuis for making me aware of this set's existence and sending me his catalogue!

Print Settings

Printer:

Biqu B1

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2mm

Infill:

10%

Filament: 3DJake PLA dark green

Notes:

Some of the models require supports.
