Dame Pinéale
sketchfab
The sculpture, created in 2017 and standing at 120cm tall, represents the pineal gland, a vital organ responsible for secreting serotonin and melatonin. However, it is also imbued with numerous phantasms, as this area of the brain was once believed to be the seat of the soul by Descartes and the third eye in Vedic mythology. The sculpture's overall shape bears a resemblance to that of a woman. This piece is the work of Régis Pochelu, a sculptor born in 1970 in Hasparren. His studio is located at the Château de Garroa in Mendionde, within the Pyrénées Atlantiques region of France (visit http://www.regispochelu.com for more information). Pochelu's artworks are crafted from either Cantabrian clay or La Rhune clay. Due to copyright restrictions, this photograph is not available for download until the sculpture enters the public domain.
