Margaret Hookham was born in Reigate, where she would later become Dame Margot Fonteyn, a renowned British ballerina. By the time she reached twenty years old, she had already danced lead roles in three iconic ballets: Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Sleeping Beauty. She went on to join Lilian Baylis's Sadler's Wells Company, where she became deeply involved with composer Constant Lambert, who penned Horoscope for her in 1938. As a result of their collaboration, Fonteyn took center stage in his ballet Tiresias in 1951.
