Dalton Projectile Point
sketchfab
Replica of Pointed Projectile type Dalton. Raw Material: Silicified Sandstone - Arenisca Silicificada The name "Dalton" was first used in 1948 to honor collector Sidna Poage Dalton, who had found numerous Dalton sites in central Missouri. Evidence of occupation by these groups exists throughout the Mississippi River valley, and because they have been found in different regions, these projectile points have received various names: Holland, Meserve, Greenbrier, Colbert, Hardaway, and Breckenridge. Chronologically, they span from 12,480 to 11,300 years ago. They fall within a period spanning the Pleistocene-Holocene transition and Early Holocene. Over 750 Dalton sites have been registered in northeast Arkansas alone. However, the most investigated sites in Arkansas are the Brand site and the Sloan site.
