Dalek Transformer Free 3D print model

The latest in my Doctor Who/Transformers crossover toys is sure to delight fans of both franchises. The main artistic reference for the Dalek mode was the iconic 2005 season episode 'Dalek', and the breathtaking WETA sculpture that showcased the Dalek's interior with its shell open. I drew inspiration from the original transformer design while creating the transformation geometry, giving it a fresh and unique look. However, my design has been inspired by Octus, who transforms into a Dalek in his alt-mode, albeit not depicted in the comic book he appeared in. The inclusion of multiple arms in this design was mainly influenced by Octus' layout. I also drew inspiration from the half-human hybrid Dalek Sec in the episode 'Daleks in Manhattan', as it shares a striking similarity with my model's head being formed by the Kaled Mutant when transformed into robot mode. The basic design was conceptualized in AutoCAD 2006, but to achieve a more blended and organic appearance, I redrawn the mutant in ZBrush. Compared to the Tardis transformers that have been previously posted, this model is far more complex and requires more parts to be printed - around 100 in total. Many of these components must be carefully glued together, which can prove quite challenging even for seasoned modelers. Furthermore, certain parts require the full support of slicer software when printing them, and a few pieces of small supports will need to be cut away after printing. Thankfully, there is no need for painting this model provided that you adhere to the filament color recommendations. The model showcased here was printed in PLA on my self-made Delta-style 3D printer using about 10oz of gold, black, silver, grey and purple-colored filaments. It takes a total print time of around 32 hours, after which it stands at approximately 6 inches tall in Dalek mode and an impressive 13 inches in robot mode. This model is compatible with various sizes of printers as all parts are individually small enough to fit through most extrusion-based machines' build volume limits. I will update you on this post on the 10th of October - changed upper body inside left and right by adding a tiny stopper that prevents the dome from tilting forward when in Dalek mode with the front of the body open.
