The Diamond DA-20 is a dual-seat low-wing aircraft, designed for flight training and personal air travel. Initially equipped with Rotax engines, later models switched to Continental O-240-B powerplants. The Katana aims to rival the Cessna 150, offering superior cruising speed, a bubble canopy for enhanced visibility, and composite construction. Despite higher cockpit temperatures due to the canopy's greenhouse effect, ventilation options alleviate this issue. The Katana's glide ratio of 11:1 or 14:1 outperforms the Cessna 150's 7:1 ratio, and it features an optional Aspen Avionics glass cockpit.
