The DA-20 Diamond Katana is a two-seat low-wing aircraft built for flight training and personal air travel. Initially, it featured a Rotax engine, but later models have the Continental O-240-B powerplant. The Katana competes with the Cessna 150, offering a higher cruising speed, composite construction, and a bubble canopy for enhanced visibility. However, cockpit temperatures may rise due to the greenhouse effect of the canopy. To address this, ventilation is available on both sides of the canopy. The Katana boasts a glide ratio of 11:1 or 14:1, depending on the model, outperforming the Cessna 150's 7:1 ratio. It also comes with an optional Aspen Avionics glass cockpit.
