DailyEarring#73: Tiny sliding train ring 4cm
thingiverse
This project is still under construction and will feature color photos, additional carts, and significant adjustments in the future. Currently, the wheels do not turn as it only has a slide rail. The design omits a loop and hook, securing the rail to a large closure ring instead. An updated version with a color scheme, tunnel, and modified rail is available but untested without STL files. A new SKP file was added for improved printing texture on the rails. Printing issues were encountered with the tree/tunnel version, which may have been resolved in this update. The train prints best facing upwards for better glider clamp rigidity. Trains are now 0.1mm shorter than the original design to avoid difficulty during attachment. Images of the project have also been added. To export train6.skp objects, note that not all modifications have been thoroughly tested yet (see update 2). The train prints best in an upright or upside-down position for ease of cleaning. Early rail versions had printing issues with inverted areas; a simple version without texture is now available but untested. Thinner radii may still work, but smaller slides or trains might compromise aesthetics. Cleaning under the rail and in the sliding clip ensures smooth movement. Be cautious when attaching the train to the rail as it can break easily; the clip's thickness has been increased for better durability. When printing the rail, consider its orientation: while flat printing may be easier, rougher textures might require additional cleaning effort.
