DailyEarring#109: Woolwinder (with gears, video inside)
thingiverse
This minimalist wool winder model could use some improvements; check out a usable version at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:13816. View a short working demo on YouTube at http://youtu.be/b-U9HqYEUDY. The creator has updated the design to include a gear, but it may not run very smoothly due to its small scale. Suggestions for improvement are welcome. To use this model, print and assemble with instant glue, following the Sketchup images for guidance. Attach the hollow gear in the big hole, then the crank-gear part at a 45-degree angle. Use tweezers to press the parts into place and let the glue dry before adding the wool holder. Despite its limitations, this tiny earring spinner is functional; if you have access to a UV-resin or SLS printer, the creator would gladly accept it for an improved version.
