Daily Equation #12 - Ellipse x^2/a + y^2/b = 1

Daily Equation #12 - Ellipse x^2/a + y^2/b = 1

thingiverse

Day 12 of my printable equations series features an ellipse, a variation of Day 8's circle equation (x^2 + y^2 = a). This simple design replaces the divisor for x and y with different values, resulting in the equation x^2/a + y^2/b = 1. The variables a and b determine the maximum/minimum range in the x and y directions, respectively (a = 100^2, b = 50^2). Ranging from 0 to 200 in the x-axis, this model can be printed without support on a Replicator 2 using Makerware's standard settings. As always, more equations are planned until interest wanes or boredom sets in. Requests are welcome via comments.
