Daihatsu Hijet Cup Holder

Daihatsu Hijet Cup Holder

The older Japanese mini trucks don't have cup holders and there isn't much space to add one. I wanted a large cup holder that would secure small cans, takeout drink cups and a large 32 ounce thermos or hydroflask. I designed this simple cup holder with no moving parts to mount using a single 6 mm bolt to the left of the center console. It's a friction fit against the lower center pedestal of the dash. The cup holder fingers bend outward slightly for large (80+ mm) containers. The hydroflask shown is 91 mm in diameter. Smaller containers such as soft drink cans do not engage the fingers, but are loosely contained by the fingers. The fingers must be able to bend. ABS or maybe PLA might work. I used a firm durometer TPU filament. I've also included the FreeCAD (FCStd) file for those who would like to modify the design, as well as the STL and FCStd files for just the base for those who would like to design a mount for something else - a different style cup holder, a RAM mount, a GPS mount, a ham radio mount, etc.
