During this pivotal experimental period, an array of cameras emerged in the 1840s. Their sizes varied greatly, resulting in diverse picture formats. Daguerreotypy demanded specialized expertise, and this innovative medium was primarily designed for seasoned professionals. In 1852, the Royal Artillery and Engineering School in Stockholm acquired one of these cameras, a cleverly crafted sliding box model, engineered to be used in tandem with a tripod. A scale and visor disc allowed users to precisely set the distance, but unfortunately, this camera lacked the essential aperture and shutter controls.
