daft punk thomas helmet
thingiverse
This is a fully realized Daft Punk helmet composed of 16 distinct components that can be printed on a standard 220x220 build plate. While this project may seem daunting, it still demands significant time and effort to achieve perfection. To obtain a smooth finish without visible seams, countless hours of filling and sanding are required before applying paint. I assembled the helmet by initially securing its components together with tape and then welding them from the inside using a soldering iron. To add extra reinforcement, I melted some scrap support material along with it. However, be cautious not to overheat the material, as this can cause deformation. The total print time for my project was approximately 102 hours, with the ears and visor set at a layer height of 0.12mm and the headpiece at 0.2mm. Additionally, the kit includes an LED holder designed in the style of Tron. This holder is capable of accommodating up to 100 5mm LEDs, which should be connected in parallel. Each section must be linked with wires, ensuring they slide in and out easily for effortless installation.
