Daft Punk Thomas 3D Printable Wearable Helmet
thingiverse
This Daft Punk helmet design by bendiger is available on Thingiverse. Thanks to Nathan720's efforts, an Instructables post has been created for building these helmets (http://www.instructables.com/id/Two-Daft-Punk-Helmets-in-One-Month/). All parts require mirroring for the right side except mouth and top dome. Most parts should print with their mirror images on a 6x6 bed, but visor parts need special attention. The helmet design is suitable for small 3D printers with 6x6 inch or larger print beds. Parts can be connected using zip ties or glue. Support material is necessary unless your printer excels at handling extreme overhangs. Printing approximately 120 hours and two reels of 3mm ABS have been reported so far. The design is compatible with AlexPlusLEDs matrix and side bar kits (http://alexplusleds.bigcartel.com/). An updated version includes the visor, electronic mounts, and larger parts for those who found the initial Thomas helmet too small. Version 1.5 features scaled parts, while others remain unchanged. An Instructables post by Fictive provides guidance on assembling the helmet (http://goo.gl/cWfsDO).
